Paper-thin Worlds
Start of new Exhibition at Man&Eve Gallery by Sarah Bridgland, Sam
Messenger, Larissa Nowicki. Until 16 December. It explores the
properties of paper: Sam Messenger - intricate pen and ink drawings,
using repetitive combinations of simple geometric shapes exploring
the expressive potential of the line. Sarah Bridgland –
mini-sculptures. Larissa Nowicki - delicate hand-woven pieces.
Patiently knit together strands of shredded paper, a rigorously
methodical implementation of a drawing pattern, or a painstaking
process of assembling the minute elements of a sculpture - all these
artworks manifest the great pride in the quality of workmanship that
each artist takes in their works.

SQUATTING AT 1 GLYN ST
In response to the item in the 1 November edition Police Sergeant of
the Prince’s Ward Safer Neighbourhood Team writes (2 November): ‘we
have spoken to the new owners and the locks have been changed.
Having made enquiries we have discovered that entry was gained by
people jumping over the side wall. The new owners are fully aware
what happened two weekends ago and have arranged security. Hope this
helps.’ Lulu Gravergaard
(Community
Safety Partnership Co-ordinator,
North Lambeth, Council Community Safety Team) writes (5
November): ‘I
have had feedback from the Safer Neighbourhood team informing me
that the premises are secure and that no one currently are living
there. I hope the situation stays like this but if you observe
anything different please do not hesitate to let me know ASAP.’ Tel:

VAUXHALL CITY FARM 30TH ANNIVERSARY
Clare Haskins (City Farm) writes: ‘Our 30th anniversary on the 20th
October - it was a great day and everyone who came said how much
they enjoyed it. We had a good turn out, particularly from the local
estates and lots of people came who had not been to the farm before.
The yard was transformed and hosted stalls with food by local
volunteers and the Bengali Women's group and Sean's bookstall. There
was face painting and spinning in the recycled building and the
Spring Gardens development plan in the classroom. Our young
volunteers parading the animals in the paddock on Spring Gardens
drew a good crowd and they loved hosting the event. We could not
have done it without your support and we hope to build on this and
work together on future events.’ Sean adds: Excellent weather helped
the excellent turnout. One of the few local events where you get a
real sense of the diversity of the mix of people in the local area.
The Farm’s young volunteers were enthusiastic, keen, and very
willing to help.
