Feedback:
’ Always good to get this newsletter -
more useful than anything else I get. Better still to get (let's
hope) good news about the Beaufoy etc proposals. I do so sympathise
with you about the way Lambeth Council often ignores (or fights
tooth & nail) local residents' efforts to develop their communities
they way they want - then takes all the credit if such schemes
succeed!’

This year's programme for National Science and Engineering Week is "Lambeth's
Living Waters Mk 11". The children of Walnut Tree Walk have
been transforming the Wildlife Garden Study Centre at Roots
and Shoots into a 'walk-in microscopic pond' for this event.
We will be running live microscope workshops so that you can
see for yourself. There will be other children's activities
and story-telling in and around the Study Centre and Garden.
There will also be demonstrations and workshops on SOLAR
ENERGY by SOLAR CENTURY, the main supplier of photovoltaics
in the UK, who supplied the roof for the Roots and Shoots
hall. Producers' Stalls and Refreshments and, hopefully, a
visit from the Lambeth Walk Musical Dragon will make it a
lively day.

Council Proposed Joint Service Centre for North Lambeth. Kennington resident Betty Severn comments:
‘There is an
excellent building in Lower Marsh which would be suitable for this
and also for the library as there is room for both, plus the
Centre which at present occupy it. I refer to the old Library, built
for being a library and spacious enough to serve the three services
providing best use was made of it.’.

Kennington Park Community Centre is mainly targeted at all Hyde
residents in Lambeth, but the session is open to all. Every
Wednesday you can buy a freshly prepared, home cooked meal for £1 if

£3. And if you need to build up an appetite why not try a pleasant
stroll with the Ramblers Association before coming back for lunch.
Wednesdays: 12.30–2pm. £1 - unemployed/over 60’s & £3 if working.
